I told Bernie to book us on the ‘Classic’ Via Ferrata at the Honister Pass slate mines but we arrived to find ourselves booked on the ‘Extreme’. Well, you can only die once, I thought.
The via feratta works its way across the face of Fleetwith Pike, seen here from Honister car park. You get taken by bus up a scary track with big drops to approach the via ferrata through a mine tunnel. Both the ‘Classic’ and ‘Extreme’ now descend these ladders – just like the Dolomites!
Then comes an airy traverse …
… with your first view of the impending wire walk-way. OMG, I can handle most via ferratas but find wire walk-ways scary!
These next pics … all show views of the scary walk-way!
Bernie approaches the top, now there remains a short walk down to a quarry road, where they pick you up by Land Rover

I know what you mean about “scary” wire bridges Terry! They are easily the most disconcerting elements of via ferrata for me too! 😯
