There were loads of people skiing the Vallée Blanche still. Hopefully we gave them something interesting to look at as they skied past?
We didn’t know how much snow there would be after last week’s heavy falls so we decided a good idea would be a trip to some of the rock climbing at Montenver…
We joined the tourist train with what seemed liked a whole coach full of Germans for the 30 minute squashed ride. At the top we found the path down to the ladders to the Mer de Glace was banked out with snow. So with only our approach shoes on we opted for the cable car down to the ice grotto and then we followed a line of foot prints through the snow with the route getting easier – and more trodden – as we got closer to the climbing.
After descending two sets of the ladders we made our way to the slabs, taking advantage of the new via-ferrata installed last summer.
After a fun day we thought we’d earned an ice cream back in Chamonix..
Weather looks great! 😎 😎 what sort of grades are the routes there?? ❓
It’s a hard life isn’t it
They are mainly easy Ian! The hardest is 6b+, but all the others are 5 or less. 😀
