Despite the lack of comments on Tish’s Crummackdake post, it did make a big impression on me and Tuesday boy, Bernie. So off we set for Settle, the climbing shop to pick up a guide book and then the tea-shop to peruse it.
We opted for Attermire crag, high above Settle. A lovely walk-in for a lovely day, as it was.
Here you see the crag in the background.
Attermire may not have been such a good choice though. It is quite the antithesis of Tish’s nice slabs, with fierce bulging starting moves. We failed on route after route, working our way along the cliff but eventually found some we could do. Here is Terry on the rattling block move – you have to pull on the loose block but I guess its been there years (but so had CB flake!!).
It was a lovely warm day and, in the end, we were sorry to leave, but will probably never return. Somewhere more slabby next time!
Ah, well there may be a dearth of comments on Crummackdale Terry, but I can confirm (thanks to WP’s stats) that dozens of people have read the report! They obviously just had nothing to say about it… ๐
Lovely weather for you at Attermire. It’s almost possible to forget just how crap August’s weather was… No, no it isn’t, August was awful, no amount of sun in September can make up for it! ๐ But it’s still nice. ๐
PS. Shame about the headless climber shot above – next time, “heads up” please. ๐
Yeah, I was probably looking down to see if the loose block was still there : ๐ฎ
Short n’ hard is my recollection of Attermire ๐ฟ
Lovely. Brings back memories.
