I met Liz for a little stroll up Dove Crag and around a few Wainwrights. Liz is also doing her Wainwrights so this was a good opportunity to bag some together.
We met at 12.00 at the car park at Brothers Water and walked up to Dove Crag. The weather was reasonably kind to us.
We carried on around and down to High Hartsop Dodd which is a nice little promontory (with a little cairn).
We returned along our path and then up to Little Hart Crag.
Our route then took us up towards Red Screes.
I think Pippa was getting tired as she curled up every time we stopped.
We climbed into the clouds and the summit of Red Screes appeared.
To finish off our day (and hopefully get back to the car before it got dark) we dropped down and along to Middle Dodd.
We made it just as the night descended upon us.
A great walk and a chance to catch up news, and I’ve finally finished all the Wainwrights on my Outdoor Leisure Map 5.
Wainwrights to go: 43
Took me right up to the last sentence to realise the obvious – that OL was for Outdoor Leisure. Doh!
It’s gonna be tight to finish all of the Wainwrights before the year is out! But they are worth savouring right? I guess there is no rush to complete them all, better to enjoy the fells in good weather?
Just stumbled across this on Wikipedia – it’s a big list!
And on that page is a link to this – impressive!
