In an attempt to regain some degree of fitness over the past few weeks I started with a stroll round the block progressing onto walks round several Yorkshire Water reservoirs. Having done some several times somewhere fresh was needed to maintain interest so today I decided on Dovedale, a place I hadn’t visited for some time. At this time of year the trees are leafless so I took the opportunity to photograph the crags usually hidden behind a curtain of green.
Lovely weather Paul! 😎 Reckon you’ll be back to full fitness pretty quick huh?
Ah, Dovedale, what a beautiful spot! Possibly of interest to some – the site’s favicon (the little icon that appears in the browser address bar next to the URL) is taken near here, it’s me swinging in the lip of Dove Holes at the end of the fun aid route The Bat that crosses the roof of the cave.
So, what are the names of these rocks? And what routes are in shot that we must do?
From the top
Tissington Spires-Brutus E1/George E1/John Peel HVS plus several more routes further back.
Ilam Rock-Easter Island E1 follows edge between light and shadow.
Pickering Pinnacles-Pickering’s Overhang E1 on 1st pinnacle /Thunderball E1 2nd pinnacle.
All good routes plus lots more on buttresses not visible from main track.
Cool – that’s our tick list sorted then – when are you hoping to be back on the rock?
Hi Paul, the way you’re shaping you’ll be back on rock later this summer  and on ice next season :freeze: for sure 😎
