Central Gully, Great End

With the fantastic freezing conditions in the Lakes currently, as well as allowing for some surprising Lakeland skiing, there was also an opportunity for a super fast solo ascent of Central Gully on Great End… It was late by time I got to the base of the climb after walking (running) in from Seathwaite, and with darkness fast approaching I set about the route quickly, very quickly, I was on the summit in 30 minutes! Not exactly “Ueli Steck” speed, but just quick enough to get me to the top in the last of the daylight before rushing back to the car in the dark.

    1. Yes, after work and trying to make the best of the great conditions before the darkness. Although a night ascent might be fun too… Perhaps next time that should be my strategy!

  1. What a nice little adventure! πŸ™‚ You certainly don’t waste a minute of your time! Good news is that now the days are getting longer fast. πŸ™‚
