After some hectic carpet laying, to make Paul’s bedroom habitable for his stay with us over the Easter Bank Holiday, we headed out to see just how good some of the bouldering in Kentmere is.
We’ve been to Badger Rock a couple of times, but haven’t tried any of the many other concentrations of bouldering. Thanks to the great download-able mini-guides at Lakes Bloc we have all the details of Kentmere’s many options and decided, with just a few hours to spare, we’d try Tounge Scar Boulders. It was the promise of good landings and what seemed like a short walk-in that did it for us. However, the walk-in turned out a fair bit longer than anticipated. A bit too far for just an Asda bag each for our shoes, chalk bags and water bottle; the handles on Paul’s bag soon broke!
A good evening’s sport, we chose a few good problems and had some fun. Although one problem with a sitting start gave us an added and unwelcome extra – there were some little nettles in the grass!
