Saturday, phone rings, it`s Clive. “Forecast’s poor for tomorrow so we’re off to Dovestone Tor”. Ok I’ll follow on. Two hours later I arrive to see Clive and Ganley finishing Route 1. After climbing Lancaster Flyby we moved back to the overhanging jugfest of Great Buttress (a gritstone must do) followed by two more jugfests to the left (Barney Rubble & Thread Flintstone). At this point Ganley declared we were on course for a good day and we should move to Upper Buttress to finish. Oops! Big mistake; the first route we tried, Autumn Day was desperate and the second, Blunt defeated both Ganley and myself. Immediately the old excuses came out, too warm, undergraded, dirty rock, out of season! Clive having none of this stepped up and despatched Blunt with ease showing that strong arms are no substitute for years of experience.
That’s the first time I’ve seen a photo tilted to make it look less steep
great picture!
Bloody hell yeah, the horizon shows the real angle!!! 😯
Which route (of those you mention?) is it?
It`s Great Buttress HVS 5a/b
No way – that’s a HVS! 😮
The way he’s going, Paul will be winning the CC photo contest, not P&T (for a change!)
