Following the previous evening’s excesses, Anna, Sabiene, Andy and Ian scoffed a full English at the local cafe and then tried to walk it off over High Pike and Great Lingy Fell.
What a day, cold and crisp with great views.
We stopped at the hut for a coffee and chocolates and headed back down.
It was freezing, thick frost lay on the ground all day, and all the puddles were thickly iced over – strong enough for Andy to slide on! It was quite novel to go for a walk without mud – I had forgotten winter could be like this – what an improvement over last year’s damp miserableness – as long as you have on the cold-weather gear to cope with it.
Looks wonderful – fresh and clear.
yeh,it’s great to walk on the fells without having to find a route around the boggy patches, as long as the sun hasn’t melted it just enough to fall through.
