Equatorial Weekend in Langdale

This weekend was terry’s meet at the RLH in Langdale. He picked the right weekend: perfect for climbing, bbq, drinking and eating cakes. Although it was actually a little hot for climbing; certainly for the walk up to Pavey on Saturday. The heat hadn’t put off the tourists though, it was like Blackpool beach at Stickle Tarn. Jon, Anna and I headed for Black Slab, below Jack’s Rake as it would bring us out close to the start of Golden Slipper, our main objective above Jack’s Rake.
Black Slab was a disappointment, mossy and fairly broken…………

Jon picks his way between the moss

Golden Slipper more than made up for what came before…………

Anna on pitch 3

After an evening of bbq and entertainment (pics of Norway, Las Vegas and S. Africa), it was a later start on Sunday. We headed for Borrowdale, to give Tish’s nephew a chance to climb on Brown Slabs.
Thunder rumbled and the rain came…………….. we headed for the caff…………..

and of course, when at the caff you always bump into some odd characters………….
