The day was dubious anyway and called for something low down.
Here you see Bernie approaching our climb on Monte Poperna Basso, just above Missurina. Already you can see the clouds building over the Tre Cima in the background.
The climb takes this 400ft diedre but breaks out left at 1/3 height to gain a crack system.
Here Bernie traverses left out of the corner. Moments later, the big raindrops came, then thunder, then hail. The deidre became a waterfall, right down my neck.
We got down safely and the rain stopped (for a while). But just look at those wicked clouds brewing up over the north faces of the Tre Cima!!

Don’t you believe it 😀 By the time we were in the tea-shop at Missurina, the heavens had opened again 👿 All the more reason to have chocolate cake :yum: :yum:
You read in the old books about those big north faces making their own weather and and the epics that ensued therein. that is precisely what would have been happening on those north faces right then ❗
