After spraining my ankle in mid August, I’ve finally got enough strength back in my ankle to tackle the Cumbrian Fells again.
The weather was fantastic when I awoke so it was a good day to visit a couple more Wainwright’s. Unfortunately I forgot my camera and missed some superb views of Ullswater – it was like a mirror.
Parking up at Brothers Water and heading up to Boredale Hause it wasn’t long before I got my first Wainwright for a few months. Angletarn Pikes is a lovely spot. The view is superb all around and the rock formations (folded strata) are amazing.
A quick lunch stop at Angle Tarn, before visiting Brock Crags (spotting a few red deer) and then headed down to Hayeswater to finish my last sandwich. I was contemplating ‘popping’ up Gray Crag and around to Hartsop Dodd, but though that was pushing my luck/ankle too much. That’ll be another day.
Back at the car, Pippa was being really funny, she obviously missed these walks and was showing her appreciation.
Next time I’ll remember my camera. Arrghh.
Wainwrights to go: 64
