We parked at the Grange hut and walked, turning onto the lovely riverside path by the teashop, to Rosthwaite. Here we had tea and cake (10/10) at Yew Tree farm which, as all locals know, is HRH the Prince of Wales’s preferred spot for B&B. Now we know why.
Beautifully sunny weather and it did not stay chilly for long. Lots of great views.
We continued up to Watendlath…
… where of course there is another cafe! A delightful stroll along another river and down past the falls…
… led us to Shepherd’s cafe. Finally, back to the bridge where we ate our picnic by the riverside. Through the village one passes the Grange Bridge cafe, and on the way back to the car the cafe that was first on our route.
Sadly, I must confess that our constitutions are not up to partaking at each and every one of these cake suppliers. We need more training first.
Cor, those cakes look good! :yum: I can’t believe you didn’t try for one at all of the tea shops? It could be a long lasting record; perhaps even rivalling the notoriety of the Kalymnos dough ball eating record?
