After yesterday’s reasonably long walk, I still felt the need to get out, stretch my legs and try and wear Pippa out.
Today it was a trip to Ambleside, not as early as I’d planned, but at least it wasn’t too busy.
The weather was fantastic, just a few cumulus clouds (and a bit of Alto Cumulus suggesting a turn of weather), and some glorious autumnal sunshine.
We made rapid progress along ridge towards Low Pike.
High Pike soon followed and views around were stunning.
Back at the car park, I’d achieved my aims:
1.a couple more Wainwrights
2.finishing all the Wainwrights on Outdoor Leisure map 7
3.a tired dog!
Next week it’s the turn of the Southern and Western Fells around Wasdale.
Wainwrights to go: 30
Wow Dave, the weather looks almost as amazing as it is here at Arapiles!
And as for those Wainwrights, nearly there. Do you think you’ll finish this year?
That’s the plan Pete, as long as the weather holds up, I’ve got a fair bit to go but I’m hoping it’ll all work out. The final walk is along the ridge south of Buttermere, to finish on Haystacks and have a bottle of Haystacks beer beside Innominate Tarn to toast AW and celebrate at the same time. I’ll let you know the date when I’ve ticked a few more off and if anyone wants to join me, the more the merrier.
