Pillier du Chateau

Above the chateau in the old village of St Jean de Bueges stands the Pillier du Chateau.

‘Le coupe de grisou’ (6a) goes straight up the arete in three pitches, reminiscent of the ‘quan es fa foc’ on sa gubia, Mallorca.

Nice view down to chateau and old village below, just before daily rain shower came in.

Needless to say, the inevitable and well deserved trip to the caf afterwards

  1. That looks like a great route Terry! πŸ˜› Especially like the fact that the approach is so handy for the cafe! πŸ˜‰
How many pitches is it? The photos look quite foreshortened.

  2. Yeah, pics do foreshorten it a bit πŸ™ As I said, it is the same ambience as ‘quan es fa foc’ and goes up in 3 nice bolted pitches with rappel down the side. We got down just before the afternoon thunderstorm πŸ˜› We had been there the previous day but rained off 😐 Derek had done it a few years ago and recommended it :star:
