Richard & Mary rented a cottage in Outgate so we joined them for a scenic bimble up Latterbarrow, near Hawkshead. This hill reaches the lofty heights of 803 feet but has wonderful 360 degree views of many major fells including the Coniston range, Scafell group, Langdale Pikes, Helvellyn, Fairfield Horseshoe and the Kentmere Horseshoe.
We did of course stop for tea and cake but the cake disappeared before I had time to photograph it.
A few difficulties en route did not deter the intrepid ramblers:
The cafe at High Wray Farm is really out of the way, but well worth the visit. Great cakes and good value. :yum: :yum:

The all round views of the whole of the Lakes are fantastic from Latterbarrow.
I guess all those padlocks on the gate are some kind of mechanism for someone to open and lock the gate with their own padlock independently of all the others?
