With the weather perking up this week I took the opportunity to meet my sister, Caroline and her family: Steve, Emerald and Crystal for a quick walk up Haystacks.
With school projects and homework to do first, we were late leaving so I had to set a brisk pace up to Scarth Gap
Being Half Term it was heaving with people, mostly on the way down, so it got quieter (and darker) as we progressed
It was nearly dark as we descended the track back to Gatesgarth Farm , but we had all survived , except for Steve’s boots which after nearly 20 years fell apart and the soles detached leaving him
to hobble down sole-less.
Back at the car I found an old friend from the farm ……… another pic for Terry
Oh dear… those boots need to be thrown away.
Thank goodness there are plenty of shops in the Lakes to choose some new ones from.
I’ve sold a pair of boots just like that on eBay! 😉
Some people do like to put plants in old boots as a garden feature. Note sure how much they would smell 😯
The plants?
A fantastic climb… the boots looked a little like i felt at the top 😳 all worn-out and a little bit bewildered!
:alien: Great to be in the air… 48 hours later we were back on the Victoria Line… engineering works… postal strikes… :zip: Can’t wait to come back! ❗
