We fancied a short walk today, as Sabiene had to work in the afternoon, so we chose to walk from their house, up the closest hill: High Pike. The weather started cool and overcast and we could only catch occasional glimpses of the view across the Solway to Scotland.
This area is full of interest with old mine workings, spoil heaps and sink holes, so there’s plenty to look at.
It wasn’t long before we were on the summit for a snack and a coffee, but we had to wrap up as it was bitter in the wind.
On the way down, the cloud lifted and it was back to summer again, Sabiene took time out to pose for a photo:
… followed by lunch; thanks Andy.
(No cake though.)
