The past few weekends have been shockingly adventure-free! What has happened? Well, we’ve been suffering from three woes – Laetitia has a cough (probably Swine Flu π ), work, and a poor choice…
- The cough (a cold or flu) is kind of normal at this time of year I guess. So even though it’s bloody annoying, there isn’t a lot we can do about it! π At least it isn’t me with the illness, as we all know man-flu is often fatal! π
- Working away from home in Edinburgh sucks! Even though I’m earning lots of Marriott reward points which should, one day, provide a free luxury holiday somewhere, it’s still the case that after a full week of working long hours (not to mention late evenings editing the new Tremadog guidebook) the last thing I feel like doing at the weekend is getting up early. π
- As for our bad choice, that’s just bad luck. π³ We simply didn’t think we’d get such an amazing period of great winter conditions back in Britain, so we left our ice tools and crampons in France. Why? Simply to save on the extra costs budget airlines pile on for non-carry-on luggage. The seat is often cheaper than the baggage! π
So our sporting diet these past few weekends has been a mix of back-to-back episodes of 24 (very addictive) and a few trips to Kendal’s indoor climbing wall. I get bored at the indoor wall too easily, which means we haven’t even done that half as often as I’d like. π Oh well, the days are getting longer again and it’ll soon be spring, the best time of year for rock climbing…
What has everyone else been up to but not reported?
Pete; things done have to be up to a standard to make them worth publishing. No-one wants the blog diluted by unadventurous activities.
Unadventurous activities? What, like cakes?! π
Colin, for you a trip to a climbing wall might be quite an adventure… :sarcy:
Oh, do climbing walls have perfectly usable paths leading to the top like most crags in the UK then β
πΏ π
Pete, my thoughts exactly on the lack of activity – fortunately I have my own wall to keep me amused.
Not really blog worthy, but for the record; the red circuit has been done in both directions, the yellow has been worked out anti-clockwise, but not linked (clockwise still needs sorting), there’s an orange problem on the way, probably resulting in a clockwise circuit, and blue is just plain hard in both directions, so I’m leaving that for later. Riveting stuff eh?
Commiserations Tish, I had bugs for a week and half – it too, sucked
Hopefully up north this weekend so will blog that. :freeze:
Anyone else? :zip:
Fortunately Ian has kept me amused with numerous phone calls. In fact, I’m hoping Ian will be blogging tomorrow….
I tore my calf last weekend so also feeling sorry for myself. But cycled about 60 miles this weekend. Richard will post tonight hopefully.
Oh god I’m afraid I have nothing to add except running 6 miles 3 x per week in the gym. Oh yes, except I didn’t go on Monday.
