With all this sunshine about, I couldn’t resist any longer and went to Malham today with Sarah. Waking up to a frost, the extra gloves, hats and down jacket came too, along with a flask of hot coffee.
Walking in to the crag was a bit nippy, but the Cove looked fantastic in the sunshine, and we grinned the whole way in.
On arrival at the catwalk, it became clear that the extra clothing would not be required, as layers were shed and the leaving of sunglasses, shorts and suncream at home was regretted! It was baking.
A trip upstairs for my first go on Obsession this year was swiftly postponed, as we struggled to make progress up a very slick-feeling Consenting Adults. A couple of frustrating attempts on top rope, due to my fish-like memory for remembering moves, were followed by a clean top rope ascent thanks to some much needed beta. A quick trip up Rose Coronary (retro-flash) for a change of scene, and then back to Consenting for the redpoint.
All-in-all, a very relaxing day with a mediteranean feel – much dozing and chilling.
P.S. My face would like to add that suncream would have been welcomed!
Oh, that’s good. The water level looks low. Was the stream nice and clear ❓
Colin, I’ve seen the stream lower, but it wasn’t exactly a raging torrent, and the general seepeage on the crag was very limited.
Water was crystal clear – get yourself in there (but take care!).
Looks like a fantastic day, and quiet. How were the muscles after such a work out… or are they ok because of all the training you’ve been doing in the spare room?
How’s the face… 😳 😳 ?
Training has made a difference (thankfully!), but we’ll see by how much on Saturday – forecast is good but cloudy, so should be able to get on Obsession. Fingers crossed…
You guys feeling better now?
Pete’s still ill 😥 , but I’m ok, so I had a day on the piste with Richard Wheeldon today 🙂 . Hopefully Pete might make a trip out tomorrow. ❓
