The blog has been devoid of cakes for some time, and to help with the depression caused by a lack of activity due to the flu, we went to our favorite cake shop: Aux Petits Gourmands.

This is a post lacking in many things. Where is the adventure? Where are the action picture so beloved of Pete? Where are the tales of daring do? But, most of all, where are the detailed descriptions of the cakes? (You are a cruel woman who thoroughly deserves the flu.)
If I wasn’t so poorly with the flu I’d have taken a photo of the window cleaning – sounds mundane, but Laetitia’s efforts hanging out of the windows to clean the outsides were quite daring!
Good looking cakes, but they clash horribly with those plates – no taste the French…
I agree, I was going to comment on the plates! Then I realised that the picture was in Pete and Tish’ appartment and that they were their plates … the plates are very British!
I was so offended by Jon’s comment that I simply couldn’t write… ha ha, not really.
But the French don’t seem to have much choice in plates, they were the best of an odd lot, and he’s right, they do clash with scrummy yummy cakes. The best thing to do is to get a cake so huge you can’t see the plate. π―
Erm, digging myself out of a hole… π³
I love the plates and mugs, so much so that I’m going to buy a set when I come and visit next week. Where did you get them from? they must have been very expensive!
I was merely suggesting the French haven’t designed their cakes with Pete and Tish’s good taste in mind, hence the clash.
(But as for those coasters, well…) π
Jon, forget the coasters mate, just look at the two different types of softwood used to make that table top π―
Softwood???? That’s pure French oak I’ll have you know. Didn’t stop some sections shrinking tho. π
I don’t know, I’m going to have to find some new friends with taste, tho’ Jon has redeemed himself very well. π
Too solve the shrinkage problem simply glue some wood effect plastic sheeting over the top of the table. Practical and tasteful.
Can I be your friend again please? :alien:
Excellent idea, and so tasteful. I will do that immediately. You can now be my friend again. Phew! π
But can I be yours, for being so fickle?
Fickle sounds like a type of cake, so yes you can :geek:
