Gorge Todra (Morocco)

To continue the story we headed off from Tafraoute, across the Anti-Atlas, and on to the Todra Gorge. The country-side was amazing passing houndred of old Kasbahs on the way. After spending the night in a great old Kasbah with terrific food (tajine and orange with cinnamon and of course the obligatory mint tea) we headed to the great rock in the Todra Gorge not exactly knowing what to expect and where to get a climbing guide book. But as soon as you can sell something you can rely on Moroccans! Hassan (one of the two climbers having established the area) waited at the entrance of the gorge selling us the hand written and hand painted original guide book for 250 Dirhams (almost 25Γ’β€šΒ¬ – see photo).

The first thing Mina shouted out on the way into the gorge was “there are bolts!” and there where lots of them πŸ˜‰ . Quite French style actually. The rock was superb and we continued to the end of the gorge trying to find a shaded and not too crowded spot to start with. The routes are superb and very friendly rated. With a traditional “pastilla” and some drumming the days ended (see photo). Inshallah we might come back πŸ˜‰ …
