Keen Sandals at Gimmer

Today was forecasted to be a glorious day so we decided to climb at Gimmer.

Luckily, I’ve got some new Keen sandals to review, so I knew my feet would be kept cool on the approach. They were about the only things that did keep cool on the 45 minute ascent. Phew, I thought I was going to faint with heat exposure at one point.

Gimmer was lovely and quiet. There were four other teams there taking advantage of the heat wave.

We started off scrambling up to the base of the alphabet slabs and doing Whits End Direct, a fine airy slab.

Then we took a nice long break, while I practiced some of the rope work I’d learnt in last weeks MLT.

Drained from the heat we finished off the day with Bracket and Slab with the 4b start and MVS chimney finish. A great classic. πŸ˜€

I was pretty pleased with the new sandals. They are very comfy, with soft soles. The tread didn’t look too impressive, but actually they have really good grip. They obviously don’t provide ankle support, so my ankles were pretty tired by the time we got back to the car, but at least my feet weren’t hot and sweaty.
