Went for a wee wander on Saturday…
…guiding a group ’round the Yorkshire Three Peaks! Not much guiding required, as we were treated to clear and cold weather so visibility was excellent.
They were a good bunch, raising money for various good causes, and made steady progress to get ’round in a little under ten and a half hours.
A long day, but Penrith MRT got £4,500 out of it, so many thanks to the kind folk of HSBC (North-East) for an enjoyable day (and the cash!).
Sunday was an East Cumbria Search Panel exercise, the scenario for which was a Mountain Marathon event in the Howgills, in combination with an E-coli outbreak – nice. Fortunately from my rather tired point of view, this required lots of sitting in a Land Rover, enjoying the view, drinking coffee and, erm, ‘co-ordinating’! The joys of delegation…
Beautiful day for it! 😛 Sunday’s workload sounds more a-tuned to my current needs though – it’s my turn to suffer with Laetitia’s cold (man-flu) now. 🙁
Sounds like a good weekend.
We saw some mountain rescue people and two police cars up Longsleddale on Sunday – wondered if there had been an incident, then realised it was probably something to do with the RAB MM.
Don’t think it was the Rab MM. The closest anyone would have got to Longsleddale on Sunday would have been Blea Water. There were no controls south of Haweswater on Sunday.
Don’t know the full details, so might be inappropriate to say too much, but Kendal were called away from the exercise to assist the police in a search of Longsleddale. 🙁
I assume the Rab went without incident? Good job considering we were all miles away! 😯
Wow I’m jealous. These hills are magnificent. Glorious sky too!
You must book a trip over here immediately… but maybe plan it for next Spring.
Exactly how did they simulate the E coli outbreak?
