When I left work on Friday it was spring. I left the office running for the train and saying to my colleagues that I hoped to get out on Saturday for some rock climbing on a sun kissed south facing mountain crag… Unfortunately when we arrived in Borrowdale on Saturday morning is was winter! Where had spring, summer, and autumn gone? What were we thinking? Going rock climbing in winter!
After a debate about objectives and slashing the target grade from extreme summer difficulty to extreme winter difficulty (i.e. VD) we chose Raven Crag Buttress.
Fanatics!!! Well done! :star: Judging from the colour of your noses & cheeks it must have been pretty cold but at least you saw a bit of blue sky. I must admit we planned our warm-up rock climbing for this weekend too but chickened out having seen the weather forecast. Here it is cold, grey and rainy. :freeze:
Now I bitterly regret that we didn’t consider skiing as an option, the conditions around 1000 – 1500 m must be good. In fact, much better than last week when we should have gone rock climbing instead of skiing. We seem to make the wrong choice all the time.
Nothing else left than the climbing gym and comforting (not rewarding!)ourselves with some cakes. :yum:
Well done for getting out. You look like you deserved tea and cakes!! :yum: :yum:
I had tea and cakes just for digging the garden…….. 🙁
