We met up with Paul to try out some of the routes from his Dovedale post. Although the weather, typically after having been gloriously sunny all of the working week, was a little grey and quite chilly.
(Can you believe that after temperatures of 22°C last week we are now having the weather forecasters warn us about possible snow this week?! With daytime temperatures down to around 4°C. What an ridiculous swing… 18°C! And some say global warming isn’t real and that the weather isn’t f%$£@d!)
With this being Paul’s first outing back on rock for sometime, and the excuses of cold fingers and the promise of excellent cakes back in Ilam, we didn’t climb a lot of routes. However, the best route was Ten Craters of Wisdom with its surprising and ample holds (jugs) out over a little overhang and bulging rock. Cool! 😛
After Simeon, lunch, and a worrying little rain shower (that in fact came to nothing but was enough to motivate us away from climbing and towards cakes :yum: ), we headed down and back to Ilam…
Those people in the last picture, look anxious to start eating the cake. Yum yum!
:yum:
I’m not surprised, that is one of the best cake houses around. I have had many a happy day there and always finish off with cake :yum:
I didn’t realise you were such a connoisseur of YHA establishments and NT cake shops Colin! 😯
It’s all about the bedrock of my life 😆
So, if that’s where you got your foundation, where did it all go wrong? 😎
Looks like Paul thinks he’s chosen the wrong cake!
