The Olympic Torch relay arrives back on land! Who would have ever thought the Olympic Torch would ever be seen on Lake Windermere?!
And the torch passes from one bearer to the next...

An amazing concert was laid on at the Glebe to surround the Olympic Flame

Les Commandos Percu started their show in the middle of a torrential Lakeland rain storm!
But what a show it was, well worth getting soaked waiting for, an utterly amazing combination of percussion, dance, and fireworks!
Those who know me, know I love big fireworks. Well, the Les Commandos Percu show included what are perhaps the best fireworks I've ever seen. Of course some of that excitement might be because we were so damn close!
The weather might have been dreadful, but there was no stopping the Olympic Torch relay and the awesome Olympic celebrations in Bowness this evening!
Although the rain had stopped for the actual arrival of the torch at the Bowness pier, onboard the MV Tern, it soon got going again and was in full Lakeland torrential force just as Les Commandos Percu started their show. Luckily the show was so utterly amazing we all soon forgot about the rain altogether. The Les Commandos Percu show is the first of only five Olympic Festival events, and the only one in the North West!
I was already super excited about the Olympic Games, but now I’m positively bubbling with anticipation of the start of the Games in just a few weeks time… Incredible, the most important sporting event on the planet, and it’s here! :star:

We had planned to see the torch as it came thro’ our locality – as nothing much usually happens here – but unfortunately as it turned out we were on our way to the hospital 🙁
