I got invited on another climbing trip to the Dolomites by my friends Neil and Elizabeth and I can never resist being invited on climbing trips, especially when the lure of Italian food, mountains and the great company of Neil, Elizabeth and Friends is involved, and I even repaid the favour, by tempting my friend Koon to come along on yet another climbing trip too.
We had a great trip, did a bit of climbing, a bit of running, a bit of chilling out in the sunshine in the mountain air, a bit of sightseeing in Venice, and even a bit of spectating at a rescue (we think it was a practice) and unfortunately a bit of running away when the heavens opened and it started to hail on us on pitch 4 of an 11 pitch route, on our last day.
The highlight for me was the Dellago route on the Cima Cason di Formin, which was a lovely quiet and longish route up a corner system, it would even have involved a bit of caving, but alas we weren’t thin enough. It was just like West Chimney all over again, except that this time we managed to bypass the difficulties on the outside of the cave!
Very nice! The Dolomites are great. Richard thinks that Lofoten is a bit like the Dollies…. I’m not so sure.
Hi Elsie, it was good to see you in Arrochar. I see the midges did not quite tear you limb from limb….
Hi Anna, yes I survived, the advantage of sweeping for the race was that I never had to stand still for very long! I hope that you are back running now. 🙂
That’s a good route, with a sting in the tail but easy walk down. Bernie and me are in the Dolomites now 😛
Well hope you get lots of sunshine and have a good trip 😎
