I ran this race yesterday – one of the first of the year. In spite of the dreadful weather forecasts for all of the UK, north west Cumbria seems to have been the exception to prove the rule and the morning surprised me by looking sunny.
I took a couple of photos of the start and finish but frankly, having seen this comprehensive blog (linked to my fell-running club website), I realise there is no point posting my own. So, a bit of a cheat perhaps, but here goes:
(I’m assuming that people like their blogs publicised and I am not infringing anybody’s copyright???)
Well done! So how did you manage the steep bit down?
Wow, well done for getting out there in fell running kit (i.e. rather less clothes than our ski kit).
Good photos, but I reckon your blog would have been better π
I don’t like grumpy farmers π
The steep up was quite hard work but luckily I wasn’t breaking trail. I liked the steep down bits – just hurled myself down assuming that if I fell it would not hurt – but didn’t fall anyway. It was a good opportunity to pass people who were more scared of snow π
To be fair, the farmer isn’t so grumpy – he is an ex-fell runner himself – but he (justifiably I think) prefers people to keep to the paths across his land.
I’m not sure it was much warmer in KPC – heating on it’s last legs too?!
