After a day at my parents we visited Paul for a trip into the Peak District.
We thought a walk along Stanage might be nice. We eventually got to Hathersage and dug out a space for Paul’s car, deciding to take the 4×4 up the hill. Three quarters of the way up and the road was blocked by a snow drift not even our car would get through, so we parked up and started to walk.
It was bitterly cold, and the drifts got bigger.
But we continued up along the hidden road and eventually got to Stanage edge.
On the way back we decided to build a shelter for lunch.
The drive home was fraught! Every A-road across the Pennines was completely snow bound. We waited at one point near Tideswell for over an hour while a snow plough struggled to clear the way ahead towards the A6 from the grips of two metre deep drifts right across the road. We gave up! We turned round and headed back east towards Sheffield and came home via the much longer M1, M62, M6 route…
Wow! It looks fantastic! We should have driven up to play 🙂
Yes you should have done 😥 And called us (or we you) – the snow hole would have been even cosier then! 😉
Cool! 😉
Looks awesome. We have sun sun sun, not rubbing it in at all. 😀
The 4th pic down looks almost like sea overtopping a sea wall!
