The heat still seems to be here! The grass is so dry and yellow. What’s going on? Oh yeah, it’s just a trick really the rain – heavy rain – is due this afternoon… So staying really close to home seemed like a sensible plan with that forecast. And where better than a crag with a 30 minute level approach, Buckbarrow at the head of Longsledale.

The wonderful purple flowers on the heather were particularly bright today, I guess heather likes the dry weather?

We saw dozens of runners travelling quite slowly down Longsledale and turning right to ascend the Garburn Pass. Later we realised why they were jogging so slowly, they were on there way to Coniston as part of the Lakeland 100 event. I wonder if Zac went by below while we were climbing?

  1. I love the photo of the pink flower surrounded by purple ;). Always good to check the weather. I had enough climbing in thunderstorms for a lifetime! Did it cool down at the Lakes now as well? We had a drop of almost 20 degrees in a couple of hours but now going back up to over 30 again by thursday… 🙄
