Week 2 came to an end and we started to get excited for our weekend trip to a local organic farm. #ibmcsc peru
During week 1 we interviewed a few of the Associates from the Chamber of Commerce and we were lucky enough to speak with Señor Alcides J. Goicochea Cruz, the President of AHORA la Libertad. He also owns three restaurants and an organic farm and he invited us to visit.
Not wanting to keep this experience for ourselves, we asked if the whole team could come. We also asked if Nick and the team from Wind Aid could join us as this would be a great opportunity to discuss sustainable energy.
Alberto and Josef did a great job of sorting out all our transport for the afternoon. After first meeting at the restaurant in the city, introducing Senor Alcides to the team, and enjoying yet another amazing mixed fruit juice, we headed off to the farm.
Senor Alcides gave us an excellent guided tour, showing us the most amazing fruit. He is so passionate and such a lovely and generous man. Everyone had a wonderful time. I’ll leave you to guess what the fruits are, but they include Lucama, Maracuya (Passion Fruit), Guava, Tuna (Prickly Pear), Palta (Avocado), Lime, and Guanabana.
On Sunday we took a trip out to a local leisure park, El Mirador. Again, Alberto did an amazing job sorting the trip for us, arranging taxis and organising the meal. It was a great place to relax and spend time with the locals, doing what locals do best: eat, drink and dance. Of course we had to try the speciality, Ajiaco de Cuy. I’ll let you look that one up.
There was a little zoo where we saw a couple of Alpaca. I’m looking forward to seeing them in more natural surroundings.
There were some amazing views to the mountains. Doug asked about climbing/scrambling, but most people just look at us as if we’re mad. One guy did say we should bring a big stick to beat off the dogs!

Seems selfie sticks are everywhere! Did you like the G pig? Izzy was very upset to hear that you ate her pet, naughty Laetitia :yum: 🙁 😆
Ah yes, I too had a pet guinea pig. So cute.
We didn’t want to have one each so we shared it between 5. It tastes like chicken 🙄 .
I have been at Los Herrajes vivential and have tasted delicious food there. Besides it is a lovely place and Alcides and his parents are very nice people that make your staying at their restaurant a memorable one.
