Recently we enjoyed a super sunny long weekend in Chamonix with Dave and Kasia…
On Friday Dave and I climbed 11 pitches on L’ete Indien in the Vallon de Berard with a couple of pitches “off route” at maybe 6b+ and 6a+ … we just kind of followed the most logical line straight up the cliff! Meanwhile Laetitia and Kasia climbed Into the Wild.
After climbing we hooked up with Stuart and Reanne to share the fun; they were on their holidays in Argentiere…
We hatched a plan to climb together at Pissevache together the next day. Kasia and Dave got waylaid on a tough, but unknown, route. So we enjoyed a “free” shandy at the Buddha shack perched high on the cliff before the final three pitches…
On Sunday the gang met at Le Fayet; a steep and very tough crag – just up Dave’s street! We each led a couple of 6b routes, then Dave hauled me up a 6c+ which is a grade that should be possible for me but the steepness, flat holds, and intense heat made it impossible! 🙁
After that, and a lot more arm stretching, we headed back to Geneva and the UK…
