After the warmest and wettest December, it’s finally turned a bit colder. We had snow.
So we decided to walk up to Bowfell to check out a winter route. We took Zac with us.
We started well with a good pace. It was cold, but not too cold. Zac was having fun.
As we climbed, the snow got deeper and poor Zac started to struggle through the knee high snow, which meant it was above his head. After about an hour we realised it wasn’t going well for him as he struggled through the snow and the poor thing was getting really cold. It was time for me to turn around and take him home to warm up while Pete and Steve carried on to Bowfell to climb a route.
I carried Zac for a short while, trying to warm him up, but soon he was able to run about again. We met lots of people going up and they gave him lots of attention so he was very happy again.
After an hour at home we got a text from Pete to say they were on the way down, so we returned to the ODG car park for Pete and Steve’s return. We got there in plenty of time so enjoyed an hour in the ODG bar drinking hot chocolate.
Zac is now very sleepy after a great adventure. Pete’s quite sleepy too, but that could be the gin and tonic!
Poor Zac looks so sad in the last photo……. 🙁 :freeze: :freeze: :freeze:
I know. He wasn’t very happy for a while. But he cheered up when I gave him some Christmas cake. 😯
