Finally starting to get to grips with the training programme for this year’s l’Etape du Tour – from Albertville to Val Thorens (where we were skiing only a couple of months ago), 135km and over 4000m of climbing. This year Laetitia is doing it too, so that should be great fun – the atmosphere of the event is electric, I can’t wait! Of course as is usual we’ve left the training a bit late! But hell, how hard can it be, we’re mountain athletes after all! OK, perhaps skiing and climbing are the normal fayre but I reckon we’ll be alright…
L’Etape Social Riders
Amazingly I volunteered to be one of the l’Etape Social Riders. I was super pleased when they accepted my offer! Maybe they had a limited number of applicants? Or maybe they enjoyed reading my report from the 2017 l’Etape? I reckon it must be the latter! ๐ Even better, they’ve made us both Social Riders! ๐
It seems like a great deal. We get free l’Etape kit, a VIP day at a Tour de France stage, and to meet the pro riders! And all we have to do for that is wax lyrical on social media about the Etape. Something we’d have been doing anyhow – it’s such an amazing event, so well run, held in the amazing French Alps, and following the trail of the mythical Tour de France! How could it be better? ๐
Here’s the fancy little video the organisers put together to give a flavour of the course…
