Our first venue was the spectacular Seneca Rocks. Only just over two hours drive from Washington, and what a place…
Predominately a traditional climbing venue, but there are quite a few sport routes too. Our only problem was that the guidebook is currently out of print, so we had to make do with what we could find online. Not that much of a problem as we only had two days at Seneca before heading off.
It was nice to get away from the extortionate food prices of Washington too. Our first meal, in Petersburg, was a typical American country diner – everyone knew everyone, everything was fried, everything was covered in cheese, and everything was super tasty! 🙂
It seems that the whole region was heavily impacted by the American cicvil war, there were historic battle ground sites all over the place…
Then we got to Seneca Rocks…
