We met up with Terry & Bernie again today to descend the upper gorge at Rjukan. Terry & Bernie were off to do Rjukanfossen, a classic WI4, while Laetitia & I nipped in front of the five strong team of Cockermouth Mountain rescue to rush up Verdens Ende (WI5)...
The Climbers' Club meet's Cumbrian team arrived in Rjukan, the long journey had an adverse effect on everyone's temperament as you can see...
After yesterday's efforts our leg muscles were knackered. Well Laetitia's and mine were. Actually if the truth be told, mostly just mine! And as Dave reported almost no aches and pains, it seems that it's true that skiing makes higher demands on the thigh muscles than snowboarding? Anyway, all of this led us to turn to the idea of enjoying some piste skiing to save ourselves from more punishment...
We decided to take Dave on the amazing Crochues-Bérard traverse tour to discover Snowboard mountaineering! The climb up to the Crochues col followed by the traverse across to and climb up to the Bérard col were easy. But the descent was another story...
