For our summer girls weekend out we originally planned to do a nice climbing and mountaineering weekend to the Lämmeren hut starting from Kandersteg (CH).
After yesterday’s adventures on the Brévent today was Laetitia’s choice of venue (of course this had nothing to do with my arms and fingers being knackered). Initially we thought we’d head up to another multi-pitch route in the Aiguille Rouge, but when we left the apartment we immediately saw the whole of the higher Aiguille …
I have no idea why, but we always seem to be in Chamonix on the weekend of the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc. Of course this is never a bad thing as the atmosphere in Chamonix while the event is on is electric.
The weather forecast for the bank holiday weekend was quite variable. But that – as usual – seemed to just be the forecasters generalising for the rest of us what those in the south-east would experience! :angry: Whereas the north-west looked like it would have great summer weather. On a bank holiday!!
We've been to Rhoscolyn a few times before, but never before have we bothered to look beyond the direct approach to Rhoscolyn's Llawder crag from the parking near the church.
The heat still seems to be here! The grass is so dry and yellow. What’s going on? Oh yeah, it’s just a trick really the rain – heavy rain – is due this afternoon…
With all the dry weather we decided we really needed to take advantage and drive up to the Scottish mountains.

This week we have come to a beautiful part of southern Norway, Setesdal. Setesdal isn’t very far from Rjukan, a place we’ve visited for ice climbing. It’s just a little south and just a little west, but still in Telemark country.
