Laetitia, Paul and Pete were greeted by BMC signs informing us that peregrines were nesting at today's venue - Warton Quarry. Not that we needed the signs to know that the warning in the guide book about possible nesting bird restrictions was likely to be in force, there were dozens of people twitching away with massive telescopes and cameras with two foot long lenses...

We set off for Gimmer Crag in Langdale today - it was sunny, and the south facing buttress seemed like a good option. Fifteen minutes from the car we came over a rise and felt the teeth of the cold northerly wind! Gimmer was going to be cold! We decided to go to White Ghyll for some shelter...
It was a lovely sunny evening, so I chose the coldest, windiest, south east facing crag I could find...
Having seen Friday's forecast for the weekend I decided to lay turf on Saturday and risk climbing on grit between the predicted showers on Sunday...
The forecast was atrocious, and of course wildly inaccurate!
It was wet today! So wet that we almost stayed home and looked out of the windows wishing we were more dedicated... Are we just fair weather climbers?
Sunday dawned dry - a bonus, it was supposed to rain! But with a forecast for rain from the south around lunch time we opted for a trip to Paul's local crag, Wharncliffe...
Paul and I had planned a trip to Scotland, but the weather forecast was very poor. Such a shame after the weeks of sunny weather we've been having recently. But, not to be deprived of our sport completely I headed down to the Peak to join Paul for some climbing on my least favoured rock; Grit! It seems to me that grit is either steep and strenuous or unprotected...
