From Crag Lough
Category: Rock Climbing
Climbing rock (aka Free Climbing).
We had planned to go to Gimmer today, but like so many a “plan Aâ€, it was changed last minute to White Ghyll (picture right). The reason; although sunny and warm we decided it was too windy to be up high in Langdale. It was a wise choice as the wind was bitingly cold!
Scout Scar is a new location for us, surprising as it’s the closest crag to our home. With easy access from Kendal, a super short walk in (just ten minutes), and amazing views of Morecombe Bay, Kentmere and the central fells - a top spot.
Is there a better way to end a work day than a trip to Borrowdale (despite the long drive from the South) to grab a route and a beer?
On a wonderful hot summer day we headed out to Crag Lough (below Hadrian’s Wall) after a full breakfast, thanks to Andy!
Our trip to Greatend Crag in Borrowdale to tick a few routes after work and to kick off the weekend early wasn’t a good one!
Work gets in the way far too much! We should get out climbing after work everyday...
You would have thought we’d be knackered after a week in Spain learning to skydive, but no, on the Sunday after our return, glorious Lakeland weather greeted us.
Whilst near Madrid learning to skydive we had to take a day off from jumping out of aeroplanes to check out the superb granite slab climbing just 20 minutes north of Madrid at Pedriza.
It was the CC aspirant members meet this weekend at Ynys Ettws. Thankfully we were blessed on Saturday morning with another ace summer day!
