Climbing rock (aka Free Climbing).
After the past week of glorious hot sunny weather, today started overcast and with a forecast for thunder storms! Perhaps not the best day to head all the way over to Pillar.
Super Hot weather, and the lethargy set it, so we had a “holiday day†at Kettle Crag. More like a holiday than regular Lakeland cragging because the weather was more like Spain than England.
With the amazing sunny weather continuing we took full advantage, hitched a ride with Max, Blue and his son Lewis, and headed up Eskdale to the superb Esk Buttress.
An opportunity came up at the last moment to attend the first ever BMG Open Day. Seeing as the event was only 10 minutes from home at Ghyll Head OEC near Bowness, it seemed like an unmissable chance to find out more about becoming a mountain guide.
The prospect of being a host at the 2006 BMC International meet at Plas y Brenin, North Wales, was a daunting one! All those super hard climbers from all over the world... What had I let myself in for?
A day’s pleasant climbing at Dinas Mot amongst friends after Laetitia attended the CC committee meeting on the 6th.
It can’t be true, the second bank holiday of the rock climbing season proper and it’s nice weather again! The gods must be smiling on climbers for a change!
A day at Shepherds crag. Dave enjoyed Ardus (MVS) (as you can see from his grin!) and I think (?) he enjoyed Jaws (E1) too...
Sunday dawned with beautiful spring Alpine weather. Is there a better invite to head for the rock?
