Rock climbing at Tuolumne Meadows, within the Yosemite National Park. A higher cooler option when the Yosemite valley is a furnace in summer. Not that this is main reason to go, the meadows offer perhaps some of the very best – and runout – granite slab climbing in the world.
Of course there’s utterly brilliant crack climbing too, like South Crack on the Stately Pleasure Dome (pictured below), and the American top-50 route North Face of Fairview Dome.
